Default 86 EZGO electric rear hub keeps going bad?

Fairly new to golf carting and purchased an 86 ezgo electric. Not long after the purchase the passengers side rear hub would spin freely from the axle. I purchased a new hub and replaced it. Approximately 3 months later the same thing happened again. This time I replaced the hub and the axle. This seemed to do the trick until recently when the samething happened again. Wondering if this is something common with this model or is there something else I should be concerned with?

Are you torquing the axle nut super tight and then tighter to align pin?

Literally, it takes a 2.5 foot 1/2" drive breaker bar on the socket and a 3 foot bar stuck between the lug bolts to tighten them down to where they do not do that

A local repair shop recommended that the axle nut be torqued to 20ft/lbs and then losen the nut as little as possible to insert the pin.

So in short are you saying that the hub nut is not tight enough?

A problem I had with getting the axle nut tight enough..... I changed my manual adjust brakes to self adjusters. (new backing plate, new drums) I could not torque the axle nut to 90 ft lbs and align the pin by going tighter. I'm thinking that the "stack" height changed, and that the outside brake drum washer needs to be modified. This is one of my projects for this week. My point here is that jones4612 you need to check that all parts are original and if not, what is modified (or missing). You need to get to 90 ft lbs and to the next opening in the castle nut.

The service manual calls for minimum 70# torque and maximum 140#. Like pggroves said above, don't back the castle nut off, take it to the next hole to pin it.
