Default Going to 72 volt TXT help buggie brother out.

Ok, so made the decision to go to a 72 volt system to try and get my 35mph with 17 miles or so of runtime...I am first and foremost worried about getting the electrics done correctly. So here is my list and prices, please let me know if I need anything else or need to take anything off the list. Also, what additional wiring needs to be done by me? I am ditching my DCS system (as per the boards advice). Do I need some sort of fuse box? Need a fuse for the controller? Do the standard wiring diagrams work okay for all of this?

Here is the list:

Motor: GE Raptor http://www.cartszone.com/catalog/cart09/D398.htm $500

Controller: Alltrax Axe 7245 http://www.evdrives.com/alltrax_axe7245.html $590

4 AWG Cables: https://www.cartszone.com/catalog/cart09/1248.htm $168

Czonka/Tyco Solenoid: http://www.onlinecomponents.com/buy/...CO/EV200ADANA/ $156

F&R HD Switch: https://secure.golfcarcatalog.com/ca...d=1430&id=4300 $130

onboard Charger: https://secure.golfcarcatalog.com/ca...d=1792&id=5350 $490

6 -12 volt Interstate Batteries: (Can get them at cost) Model: U12VGC http://www.interstatebatteries.com/c...nfo/golf_f.asp

I'm nowhere near giving out any "sparkie" advice, but did you price a comparable AC set-up? Seems like the difference between Big Blockin on a budget (with all the associated costs and headaches) or just buyin a little more expensive kit that's ready to go? IMHO......

I'm with Flintrock. I am really new to this but from what i have read, you could go AC for what you are doing here. Might even save some money and get better performance. I could be wrong and probably am but as soon as i do an upgrade that is what i am getting.

Good luck!!

Ya its like $2500 bucks...but the problem is the run time...I think I can get further on a 72 volt DC system vs an 48 volt AC...am I wrong?

AC is more efficient....or so ive experienced. if you really want to go 72v, check out the AC system for 72v. you should easily hit that 35mph mark with that

I would suggest at least #2 cables at a minium. I would rather see 00 welding cable if it was mine. I also suggest you look at the A/C system. It wasn't readly available when I did mine. They are great systems and well worth the money. It will out perform & last you.
I have my ?'s about on board charger's! Why do people want the extra weight, worry about getting wet and bouncing around in a cart. I bought a $89.00 contactor from cloud nine and it is good for 200 volts in rush and 90 volt cont. I think. Can't find C/( website but this is a picture of it.

If I remember right that GE Raptor motor may not do well spinning with 72v. I think Nate had some feedback on this. It may be in some of my earlier threads but I think he was saying it spins the Raptor motor too fast...think grenade... May want to look into that!
