Smile 1991 Ezgo Cart

Good Morning Everyone: In checking, we found our cart is a 1991 instead of a 1995. We've purchased a new solenoid and batteries and cart still runs a bit and then quits. Larry wants to know if anyone can tell us where to find a wiring diagram so he can check to make sure he wired it back up right. If he did, could it still need a controller?

Thanks!

Hi! we put in new solenoid as was recommended by friend. wired it up exactly as the diagram showed. Solenoid clicked about 3 times and quit. Reinstalled the old solenoid, still no click or movement.

Suggestions please and thnks. Larry and Idona

I'm with divot61 on this one. I know your batteries are new, are they charged and what is the pack voltage?
Let's establish that then move to the next troubleshooting stage.
Wiring check, reverse beep, solenoid, FNR and controller is next.

batteries are all charged. checked batteries with digital volt meter - 37.2 volts at battery charger connector. hooked remote starter button to solenoid. pushed button on remote starter with cart in forwared gear. cart will move. also tried in reverse position and cart will move. unhooked remote starter button. tried with accelerator pedal. solenoid won't click and cart will not move.

At 37.2v, you have only a 70% charge on your batteries but that won't cause it not to go.
Your battery connections and FNR switch must be ok if you can get it to move back and forth with a solenoid jump.
Confirm that you have 36v to one side of the solenoid (large post).
When you turn the switch on and press the throttle do you have 36v at the solenoid? If you do, check the solenoid (small posts) for continuity, if none, the solenoid is bad.
If all that checks out, the small black and the white wires going to the controller are the throttle it is essentially a 0-5000 ohm potentiometer, check to see that it is working.

i have .191 ohms at the small terminals on the solenoid. I have 37 volts on both large posts on the solenoid with the key off or on and not touching the throttle.
