Default 4 gauge battery cables

I am new to this forum and hoping to find a few answers. I recently bought a 2004 EZ-GO TXT. I was told to upgrade my battery cables to 4 gauge. I am wondering if I only upgrade the 5 battery cables to 4 gauge and leave the existing 6 gauge cable that runs to and from the motor... will that improve performance, or if i need to upgrade ALL of the cables (10 cables I think) to 4 gauge.

Thanks

In order to get the benefit of 4ga cables, you need to change them all. DC runs in a complete circle from the positive to negative through all the cables in series.
Think of having a 2" water line with one little section that is only 1", you effectively have a 1" line until you make it all 2".

Thanks for the reply. That's what I was thinking. There is a BIG price difference between the 5 cable set (about $20) and the full 10 cable set (about $120). Now I just need a great quality set for a great price.

Check with our sponsors. I've delt with a few of them and never had a problem

I just ordered my set from East Coast Custom Carts. (under site sponsors, the bottom left column)

They have the "welding cable" set for 98.00. This is for an EZGO 05 PDS.

On a PDS cart you will only change the 5 battery cables 1 selonoid and 2 of the motor cables. I think that right. The 2 smaller motor cables stay the same no benfit from changing them.
