Installing a radio and lights
I am planning on installing a radio on my 2004 TXT. Which is the better route to go...
1. Get a voltage regulator and use the power from my 36v system or 2. Buy and mount a 12v battery and use a trickle charger every night on that battery (separate power source) I am also planning to add head lights and tail lights later on too. Although they won't be used often, I will have a few late nights at the golf course, when the lights will come in handy. Thanks again! |

Re: Installing a radio and lights
I use an extra 12v marine deep cell group 24. I like it because it doesn't use any of the main pack. We do alot of night driving and stereo usage when we camp. I have never ran it dead.

Same here.Only the cart operates off the battery pack, everything else off a seperate deep cycle battery.

Re: Installing a radio and lights
A separate 12v power source for your radio is always desirable as it may prevent electrical feedback from the controller/motor from affecting your reception.
That being said, if your using it mainly for golf and not using a lot of lighting except for an hour or so, and you have enough power to get you home I would tap the battery pack at 12v and be done with it. It eliminates the hassle charging of a separate battery and saves weight and $ too. You can always add a voltage converter later if you choose. My cart is tapped at 12v and with 5 year old Trojans will still go 36 holes and drive around the neighborhood with headlights on without discharging anymore than 40%. |

Re: Installing a radio and lights
I use a handicapped scooter battery UB 12350 sealed battery and works fine. Can be mounted in any position and is small 71/2X51/2X71/2.
