Default Model & Speed Update

I purchased an E-Z-Go 2004 Electric Golf Cart, I'm can't determine what model I have? Please help! Also is my model upgradeable to 18-19 mph range with update? Thanks! Joe

Where is the forward/reverse switch located?
If on the dash it is a PDS cart.
If you lift the seat and look under the long hinged flap towards the rear of the battery compartment, you should find your model and serial numbers.
I am new to carts myself so...if you post up your serial numbers, there are probably folks here who can sort it out for you in better detail
Good luck.

The last 2 numbers of the manufactures code is the year, located inside the passenger side glove box, the 2004 and newer ezgos dont have a serial number plate in the box, they have a serial number sticker under the rear access panel behind the seat, and then on the driverside frame rail below the floor board, stay away from 96-97 DCS carts, there is a a reason they only built them for a short time,

PDS carts will have a Tow/Run switch on the environmental cover over the controller and a toggle switch for F&R on the dash

SERIES carts will have a shift lever like the dcs cart down by your legs, but it will NOT have a tow/run switch. Also the actual F&R switch is in the corner by the controller and there is linkage from it to the lever in the center.....

The people I purchased it from informed me that it is a 2004. There is a plate in the glove box that has a number D400 1268522. I don't see any serial number and manufacturer number under the rear battery compartment flap. Thanks. Joe

To upgrade that cart to 18-20mph will take a new motor or 48v conversion.
Set aside about $1000-$1500 for it.
6x8v Batteries $500
48v Charger $300
Possible new controller $400
48v Solenoid $50
4ga Cables $125
OR
36v High speed motor $600
4ga cables $125
20" Tires $400

Wow, quite the investment. I'm kind of upset because the prior owner told me it was a 2004 model. Although they weren't the original owner and they may have been told it was an 04 Is a series cart a good cart? I paid 2K for it. It is super clean. The under carriage looks brand new. It looks like it just came off the show room and that it has never been used.

If I'm not concerned about the speed but want to be able to climb hill without too much slow down is there any less expensive upgrades I can perform?

New 4ga cables and fully charged batteries will help your hill climb speed retention.
