Default Can I put an 18x8.5x8 on an 8x8 wheel?????

I want to run the Duro DI 5009 (street tread looking) tires on some 8x8 wheels. Will this work? I know typically it would go on an 8x7 wheel but I can get some 8x8's pretty cheap.

Will this just give the tire a "square" profile?

Or is the tire actually going to be molded so the lip/bead is in from the outside wall of the tire (meaning the distance from bead to bead is going to be like 7 inches instead of the tread width of 8.5) meaning anything more than a 7 inch wheel width will make the tread look "puckered" or "U" shaped? I def need all of the contact patch I can get!

Thanks in advance!
Mike

Mike, they'll fit, but might be a monster ta get the bead to seat. The side wall will stick out a bit and the diameter of the tire will be a little smaller.

Do you think the profile of the tread will be flat/square? Or will it be slightly concave (center of the tread a bit lower than the edges of the tread by the sidewall)?

I am going to take this to the 1/8 mile track so need all the meat on the ground I can get!

Thanks for the quick reply :)

Should run flat. The stockers have a crown to them, so it should work great for ya. Have you checked out the Drag Racing forum?
