Lift Kits for pre 1980
Have done some searching for a 1977 Marathon lift kit with no success. Anyone out there with an older machine like mine no of a place that sells aftermarket lift kits? I figure I am going to be fabricating my own, but thought I would check to see if I overlooked an aftermarket before proceeding on my own.
TIA for any info! |

A block lift is probly about all you will find for that old a cart.

Technically, Its not a marathon. Marathons didn't come out till 86. Marathon is just a common name used for the older carts.

Thanks for info on model. I grabbed the Marathon title from one of the wiring diagrams on here that matched my wiring. So I take it mine doesn't actually have a model name, just a 1977 EZGO?

Re: Lift Kits for pre 1980
I've got a '79 and was looking for lift kits last year. I really wanted a drop axle lift instead of the cheap block lift. I ended up buying a lift kit meant for the 88 and up (I believe) Marathon. I had to replace the king pins with some bolts and spacers, but it ended up working great. Looks awesome too.

Re: Lift Kits for pre 1980
I just bought is supposed to be, 1980 EZGO. Cant find a sereal number anywhere. Supposed to be in the dash area on passenger side, but nothing there. I am very interested in your lift kit installation, and am wondering if you have any more pics of the installation, and what obstacles you found. I plan on, in the future, removing the engine, and installing a rotary engine from a Johnson Snowmobile. It has 35 HP, and electric start, with reverse, so it will be more like a car, than a golf cart, as far as stop and go. I want the lift kit, for larger tires, and ground clearance, and like you, would like the cool looking drop axle. I haven't looked that close yet, but the front suspension, or axle, seems to be a solid mount, instead of having any suspension.

Re: Lift Kits for pre 1980
A lift kit for a 87' or older Marathon should work back to the early GX-series as far as I know. The rear stuff is all basically the same in from late70's-up.The front suspension was the same design from 77'(?)-87',then they flipped the springs under the axle on the front.Hope this helps.
