lights and radio on seperate battery
I have been test running my new rebuild. It is the first cart that I have put a stereo in. It is a 48 volt AC cart. FAST.
Anyways, I have the lights and stereo hooked up to the main battery bank. When I hit the accelerator, the volume goes down and the lights dim. I was thinking to put a 12 volt battery in the cart to run the lights and stereo but then charging came up as an issue? Can anyone relate to this type of problem and alternate solutions? GRACIAS. |

Re: lights and radio on seperate battery
I don't know anything about AC carts. People with 48 DC use a converter to the battery banks or a spare auto battery. A seperate charger is generally used. I have not seen AC carts. You must a 48VAC-12VDC transformer? You will probably need and independant source of power....No se' Buen suerte'
Lo siento, yo no puedo ayudar usted. Que lindo el carrito.... |

Re: lights and radio on seperate battery
I have a 36v series cart. I just installed lights and chose to try a seperate 12v battery. I ran around with the cart last nite for about an hour and lights were just fine off the 12v. I had a 12v charger anyway, and as it turned out the batter really did not lose much, charged back up in like 20 min. Also the battery i am using is a lawn tractor type, $29.99 at Autozone.
Hope this helps. |

Re: lights and radio on seperate battery
Mounted a marine plug on outside of cart to plug in any extention cord to turn on the Battery Tender charger.

Re: lights and radio on seperate battery
The one in the picture is not the waterproof model. When I do this again, I will be using the waterproof model. Any model with at least 6 amps would be fine.

Re: lights and radio on seperate battery
Ok, the waterproof 800 is too small then. Deltran has a "power tender plus" Water proof, vibrations and shock resistant. 12V with 5 amp output.
I am using their 48V golf cart charger. They are a great company to work with!!! Thanks. |
