Half speed reverse switch pros and cons
I have a 93 E-Z-GO Marathon that would not go in reverse, so when I took the F&R switch off I noticed that the double microswitch did not have the contact rollers. When calling a local shop to see if they had this double microswitch and telling them that I could not go in reverse, they said to try and disconnect the black and white wire that controls the half speed reverse. Presto......I can now go in reverse at full speed. On top of that, the forward speed is alot faster as well; I wonder why that is, but I like it. Anyone know if there are any potential issues to not using the half speed reverse switch(double microswitch)?

Re: Half speed reverse switch pros and cons
Half speed reverse is actually half power reverse. We drive in mud or sand and when I get stuck I need full power reverse.

That would be fine, hidden from the children and all.

Re: Half speed reverse switch pros and cons
I have been about to ask how to bypass the half power reverse but am interested to know which one of the double switch it is-front or rear on a '92 Marathon. I need to back up onto my tilt trailer and need more power in reverse. I like the switch idea (hidden) to bypass it only for loading.

Re: Half speed reverse switch pros and cons
I'm glad some have found this thread useful for adding a toggle to the 1/2 power reverse microswitch. But are there any draw back to using full power in reverse other than safety?
Also, anyone know why my forward speed seems to have improved since I disabled the 1/2 power reverse microswitch? |
