Default Acouple of ?s & pics

As I mentioned in my first post my cart was kind of ressurected from the scrap heap the manager of the park where I live was going to cut it up and toss it in the dumpster. After replacing the Battery cables along with batteries I started in on the secondary wiring which was a total mess I had hot wires going nowhere, wires that didn't start anywhere or go anywhere.
I ripped out all the secondary wiring, the horn. and the blower motor, replaced the tail lite assemblies and the turn signal assemblies, all the lighting is now working.

My 2 ?s are 1. about the overdrive switch and how its connected, I've heard somewhere that it's not a good idea to use the overdrive as it will shorten the
life of the motor

2. is how is the charge meter hooked up, hopefully the pic of it is below along with ones of the cart.
Sorry for the longwinded post, and thanks in advance for any and all help

edit to add any ideas on a positive year date

vagabond,

I can't answer any of your questions, but that's a cool looking cart.

You won't have any trouble finding it in a parking lot.

It's an early to mid 80's Western cart. Built on an EZGO chassis. This could be a controller or resistor cart and is probably 36v. Post the serial number and I'll see if I can determine the year.
I believe Western has been out of production since late 2006.
The newer ones were $9000+ carts and looked like this:

The serial number should be stamped into the frame rail under the seat, passenger side by the wheel liner.

THe battery meter connects to the same 2 battery posts as the charger wires. What type of overdrive does the cart have?

Meters hooked up and working, rhought it through this morning, must have been a brain cramp last nite on the meter.
On the overdrive I couldnt say all I saw was a switch on the dash with overdrive imprinted on the knob and I just thought at onetime it was hooked up somehow
