Question Lost Reverse

Working on an EZ Go E-200. Not sure of the year. Burned a wire from B+ of the controller to post A of the Direction Selector Switch. Replaced it and in the process snapped the stud off of the contact on the DSS. Replaced it. Everything works fine except it will not move in reverse. Back up horn works and the Solenoid picks up. What next?

You need to figure out what year and type of drive system. Post the Manufacture Code from the ID tag in the passenger glove box and tell us which drive system you have.

The last 2 numbers of the manufactures code is the year, located inside the passenger side glove box, the 2004 and newer ezgos dont have a serial number plate in the box, they have a serial number sticker under the rear access panel behind the seat, and then on the driverside frame rail below the floor board, stay away from 96-97 DCS carts, there is a a reason they only built them for a short time,

DCS will have a F&R lever behind the driver's knee and a run/tow switch on the enviromental cover on the controller. The backside of the f&R looks round like a hockey puck.

PDS carts will have a Tow/Run switch with toggle switch for F&R on the dash

SERIES carts will have a shift lever like the dcs cart down by your legs, but it will NOT have a tow/run switch. Also the actual F&R switch is in the corner by the controller and there is linkage from it to the lever in the center.....

The plate in the glove box area has E-200 and SN 1271318. That's all I can find. It is a series drive with a Curtis model 25865G09 controller.

I'm having the same problem and I DO have a DCS system. No problems with it for a few years, 4 to be exact. Just use it around the house. Shorted out by a wrench slipping between the contacts. Didn't burn any wires, etc....

Have you found a solution to this?

I read in one post about the reed switch, so I will check that. The cart goes forward just fine. I have checked all the other wires and they check out ok.

Solenoid clicks when in reverse, just doesn't move.

I did find a glass type fuse that did not have a good contact behind the drivers side rear rail going down, made the reverse horn come on, but still doesn't move backwards.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
JB

I ended up replacing the reverse micro switch and rebuilding the entire reversing switch (all new contacts). The local repair shop told me that when you have to replace one of the contacts in the switch - you better replace all of them. I don't know what the root of the problem actually was - but when I replaced all of the copper contacts and filed them level with the contact plate and replaced the switch - everything worked. Total cost less than $50.00. I could have tried one part at a time - but the cost of all of the parts was so small it didn't justify the cost of my time to go one part at a time.

Hope this helps. Good Luck.
