PDS owners- DONT buy chips!!!
I will not be responsible for any damage caused by the following modification.
This may be "backwoods or redneck" but it works. Use at your own risk!! You hear about speed chips and the performance differences. If you plan to spend money on a chip, be aware they are only a jumper wire (or two) I'll show what I did. If you copy it and like it, send a donation to BGW for this free info Turn the key to the off position and remove it. Remove the seat. Turn the run/tow switch to the tow position. Using a 3/8" socket and extension remove the 3 bolts holding the cover and set the cover aside. You will see a chip slot (ours are empty). There are 5 holes in this slot. From right to left they are numbered 1-5. The open slot is for all terrain application. Jumper 1 to 5 and 2 to 3 for Speed Jumper 3 to 2 for steep hills Jumper 1 to 5 for mild hills Don't cut the copper too far back on the jumpers and keep the jumpers as short as possible. Approximately 1/4" is enough copper. As you can see in the pictires they are small jumpers. I didn't check the gage. Probably 14 or 16g. Insert the 2 to 3 jumper first and the outer second. It's easier that way. Once you have the jumpers in place, we need to secure them..... |

Re: PDS owners- DONT buy chips!!!
Here's the "redneck" part. The old proprietary Zip Ties. Anchored around the top plug and the bottom it pulls the wires and holds them in place. Believe it or not. That's all it is. Put the cart back together and hold on. I don't know the speed on that, but it is pretty fast for a STOCK golf cart. If you don't like it remove it. If you get to some hills, remove the outer wires and go steep mode. Be cautious. Don't jump the wrong holes!!
How about a sticky for this |

Re: PDS owners- DONT buy chips!!!
Why? Because they are so expensive.
Risk vs. Reward? $20.00 vs. $400.00? I think jamming some loose wire into your controller to save $20.00 bucks is a BAD IDEA. I vote no on this plan, but I'd be more than happy to sell a replacement controller over a speed chip any day... Now - In an effort to not step on any toes, Go to radio shack and get the proper connecctors and make your own chip from your blank |

Re: PDS owners- DONT buy chips!!!
Sorry Mike, I forgot you're an ezgo dealer. Am i bad?! I was going to remove the blank, as you said, and the space was empty! I was going to build a remote switching system with the blank plug. (I figured that part out) I didn't check them all but they are supposed to have plugs.
I should realize that I was thinking like this. If for some reason I cook the controller, I can replace it with a reman. for a reasonable price (in stock), OR UPGRADE and go faster! That cart has new batteries and what a better excuse??Not everyone thinks like that...maybe. I have a lot of confidence with my own work. If I had a doubt about loose wires I would hot glue or silicone them all in place. When or if I want to change it, it peels right off. I'm not in the least worried about those wires falling out. If someone else did it?? I don't know?? It is just for me. The golfers don't get fast carts. They need slower ones. This thread will die soon, mine always do.... They closed my radio shack too That is a very noticable changezooom |
