Default Charger Reconditioning?

I have a Total Charge III for my 85 EZGO and it appears that it is not kicking on anymore. Are there common problems on these that I should look for or can they be reconditioned if necessary? They are kinda expensive to buy new and mine hasn't been used but a couple of seasons so I hate to have to buy a new one if I can fix this one. Any ideas is much appreciated.

As long as the transformer is good, it is always cheaper to repair than buy a replacement. Take it to a good repair shop with experience in charger repairs...

If you have a bad cable, loose wire or a bad fuse (some carts) the charger won't come on. Check all your cables and connections. If your batteries are good and you don't have A/C power the charger will click but not pull any amps. Check your outlet 120vac. Be sure your battery pack has enough voltage to trip the charger. They won't come on below a certain voltage. Check the battery pack voltage. The chargers are usually equiped with an internal fuse or a visible bulb in the front of the charger. If you are confident with your ability, unplug the charger, remove the cover and check the fuse. If you have any doubts, find a repair shop. Parts are available and there are people that swap a remanufactured one for yours for a reasonable cost...Beyond that...? someone else will know...

Thanks for the replies. I know the batterys have good charge for it to kick on because they were charged when I switched them from my 98 buggie to this one for test purposes. The wiring part might be the key though. There are a few small wires that were unhooked from the 85 when I put the batterys in. I was afraid to hook them up anywhere since they weren't hooked up before. The charger has a red reset button on the front that say push and has 50 on it. I pushed it but it doesn't seem to really push in. The charger actually looks brand new but I know that doesn't mean anything. I will take front off and look for a fuse. How do I tell if the transformer is good?

Im looking for some info. If it's in here I won't have to post pictures. I have the troubleshooting flow chart and wiring diagram for powerwise. It doesnt specify 1, II or III. The red button is 50 amp circuit breaker. It also shows a fuse between the battery + and the ammeter at the charger....

here's a link for the diagram buggiesgonewild.com/electric-ezgo/3697-textron-golf-cart-wiring.html
The picture might show the diode test procedure and how to test the transformer. The diodes in ours go and the fuses second. But it could be anything. Test the diodes after you try the flow chart.

Can we read these, not worth a crap. I'll repost it or type it out tomorow. This chart and these test procedures need to be in here. It's not in the manuals here, Or I didn't see it..
We'll see tomorow. he may fix it off the diagram.

Is this your charger?

You can always follow the thread I posted on your other thread and do same procedures for bypassing and see if charger is working.

I am attaching more clear pictures of what Tony had posted:

You can set the good batteries on the floor and wire them in series and try out that charger. All those small wires don't mean much to the charger in the cart.
