Delta QuiQ 48 on 42v question
We just got home today from a 8 day RV outing so the cart batteries (7 Interstate U-2200-new) are well rested. The brown truck had brought my new charger while we were away. I clipped the ring ends off of the output wires and soldered on the Anderson 50 connectors. I was able to buy a adapter cord to go from the AC plug that comes with it to a 15a grounded plug. The battery voltage was 43.5v. We had played 18 holes with it.
It is now hooked up and charging. The seller preset it for 42v for me. The single bottom output bar is lit and my meter loop shows 4.5a charge output. the charger has been on for about 30 minutes and the voltage is up to 45.5v. I have some caps off and will watch for bubbling but so far none. Does it sound like all is well?? Jim |

Re: Delta QuiQ 48 on 42v question
Yes. Do you have a problem with that?? It is set for 42v as my post indicated. Maybe you didn't know the Delta QuiQ 48 would do that. Gaston was the one that told me about that capability.

Re: Delta QuiQ 48 on 42v question
I didn't know that they could be "preset". I guess I didn't see that at first Did you edit or am I blind? And "yes", if it were a 48 volt charger and you were charging 42 volts, I would have a problem I wouldn't want any batteries to blow up in your face, my friend...

Re: Delta QuiQ 48 on 42v question
Nope, no edit. Gaston had told me it would do 42v and was the best charger available in his opinion so I ordered it. The seller set the code for 42v. Code 37 I believe.

Re: Delta QuiQ 48 on 42v question
10-4, Guess I got concerned when I saw the 42 to 48! I had a battery blow up on me this past week and was VERY GLAD the seat was down!

Re: Delta QuiQ 48 on 42v question
I can relate on how scary a battery explosion can be. I am old and when I was 50 years younger I was working on a Hyster lumber straddle carrier and the battery blew. I came very close to going off of that thing to the ground about 10' down.
I just went out to the shop and the charge rate is steady at 4.5a and the battery voltage is now up to 46.3v. No bubbles from the cells. Jim |

Re: Delta QuiQ 48 on 42v question
Smart chargers rarely produce bubbling. The ones I am used to are 3 stage chargers, Gaston said the Delta QuiQ was a 6 stage unit. In that case you will likely not see any boiling and probably will only have to add water once a year.
I have a 2500w inverter/130a smart charger and 6 GC-2 golf cart batteries dated 2/02 on my boat and I have only added water to them about 5 times and they still test good, at least for now. |

Re: Delta QuiQ 48 on 42v question
hi!
Good to hear on the charger Jim, I am not brand biased at all, just that for now DeltaQ is building the best golf car charger IMHO. It is widely used on LSV's and NEV's as well as on some EV's. In fact I was introduced to this charger by EV'ers. Mike: I was checking ezgo and they also factory provide the QuiQ. It has a huge # of chit to play with and will be stock the next NEV's from ezgo as far as I heard. It is already a factory equipment for the upcoming Polaris EV posted in this thread, and 72v GEM's since 2004 or 5, as well as many other LSV vehicles out there. Doug: The little bubbling is normal, boiling is not, he said bubbling . In the first few charges you can even see vigorous bubbling and this means batteries are equalizing, a normal condition, check Trojan web site: http://www.trojanbattery.com/Battery...qualizing.aspx This charger, if plugged to AC for long periods (such as winter storage for example) will never let the cells go below 2.1v using an auto restart system or a once a month charge. Also is the best to have on board for lightweight, waterproof and opportunity charging, not mention the programming flexibility. There's models with DC converter integrated with switched and unswitched outputs (ideal for radio memory)... I will be contacting DeltaQ for the free ads, need special price on a 20+ chargers order |
