The back plastic piece pops right off this allows you to see into the unit. No visible damage. Then I cut out all potting on top with a carbide bit in a dremel. Once you hit the pink foam you have gone far enough, delicate circuit boards lie right behind it.

Screws have potting over them as well, removed most with a dremel, then heated a cheapo screw driver red hot and melted the material out of the Phillips heads. They can then be removed. Careful as there is a plastic bushing that isolates them from the case of the controller.

At this point you can slide the internals out of the controller. I don't have many good pics of this as a unit. The logic board is smaller and sits on the side of the unit. In order to really get a good look at it 6 pins must be de-soldered from the main board. Then the smaller logic board can be removed.

The only thing that caught my naked eye was the goo around the bottom of this capacitor. It is normal for manufactures to glue capacitors to the board, although this board had 3 other capacitors with no trace of adhesive at all.

I removed the capacitor and it tested bad, out of 10 micro farads it tested to be roughly 0.15. So I popped it out and soldiered one with similar voltage and capacitance ratings in off an old PC power supply.

To my surprise it works great now! Was this some shadetree BS?......Yes. Will it work forever.....probably not. Could I fix it again.....who knows. But it was interesting, and fulfilling to have a good result for now.

So that is what I did on my EZGO recently.
Awesome! I have an old Curtis that's not working. I think I may pull it apart for a look-see.

Moved rear winch to bagwell. (Need to Marine paint the 2x10")
Re-installed rear seat and seat back
Installed rear grab bar\handles
Put skaters tape on hitch winch mount, flipped it upside down for use as a foot step.

I can't believe I had to Google "skaters tape". Been a few years since I had a skateboarder in the house.

What do you mean by "Hide plate"?

My cart is actually licensed by the Pennsylvania DCNR (Department of Conservation and Resources). I licensed my cart as I use it for hunting on public lands......and they want a license plate on the "vehicle." I just didn't want to publish my plate number.
