Need info for PDS 05 TXT
My wife bought me this cart for hunting. After reading here I see that it is not good to lift a PDS cart. Too late now, so I need some help with batteries going dead pretty quick and cart stopping after a while. I'll let it sit then it goes good. Batteries read 6.33, 6.36, 6.34, 6.27, 6.30, 6.27. Bank reading is 37.9. They are Trojan t-605's. Do I upgrade controller? To what? Repalce batteries? I do need to ride slow for a little while in the woods ocassionally. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Need info for PDS 05 TXT
I have an '05 PDS too. Everything I have read on here indicates that the stock controller will not hold up on a lifted cart. You need a 400 amp or higher. Alltrax seems to be the favored brand. If your batteries are original to the cart, they are probably on their last breath. Check the date code on the batterie posts. There is information on the board about the date codes and the voltage readings. Or I am sure one of the more techie types will be along shortly.
Pesonally, I need new batteries as well, so now is the time to switch to 48V. It requires replacing the batteries with 6-8v or 8- 6v, along with the controller and solinoid. If you don't have upgraded cables, you may want to consider that as well. Oh, and you need a way to charge 48V. That will give you lots more torque to get up the hills in the woods. |

Re: Need info for PDS 05 TXT
Drive it until it starts to fail, then order a 400 amp Alltrax with the PDS interface

Thanks for the help. Guess I will go ahead and order the Alltrax. Should I go ahead and get all new battery cables? Good place to order the Alltrax from... Thanks for the info.

Re: Need info for PDS 05 TXT
The stock solenoid is Ok fir the 400 amp. If it ever goes out, then you could replace it with a heavier duty solenoid. You also want to get some 4 gauge cables, not just the battery cables, but for the controller / solenoid as well...
