Body Panel removal
Ok, I did my searches and came up with nothing on this. I also have the EZ-GO service manual and it tells you nothing.
I bought a new front plastic cowl and figured it would be a simple R&R. Boy, was I wrong. Long story short, the upper mounting bolts have nuts on them, and they are only accessed after removal of the plastic glove box tray. How the heck do you remove the tray? I found a row of nuts behind the plastic front cowl, got to them through the headlamp holes. This didn't seem to loosen the tray at all. Any other thoughts? Why the heck does it have to be so hard to remove what "should be" a simple plastic nose? Egads! |

Re: Body Panel removal
I feel your pain. I recently painted my cart and taped the whole thing off rather than drilling out all of the rivets and removing bolts from who knows where. It wasn't that bad taping everything off, but if you are replacing the front, would be hard for my technique to help you. Good luck... You'll get your answer here!

Re: Body Panel removal
On a TXT 95 & up Ezgo You can Jamb your arm up under the dust and mud flap under the front and work a wrench onto the nut working by feel I suggest a racheting wrench... Wait! are we talking about the front end cover or the plastic nose? On the nose yeah you need to pull the dash. Drill out the rivets and pull the cup holder assemby... the rest is kind obvious....

Re: Body Panel removal
I am very confused here. Just what piece are we talking about? The front cowl on a TXT is held on by rivets ONLY. Drill 'em out and you're done.

Re: Body Panel removal
Sorry, forgot to mention it's a '94 Marathon. I was kind of wondering if those rivets would have to come out. Quite frankly, I was telling myself that it just had to be easier than I was building it up in my head.
EZ-GO obviously never heard of service engineering. I keep this up, I'll be taking the back end of the cart apart to get to the bolts on the front cowl. I think I asked this before but...who the hell designed these things???? My lame-*** lawn tractor from Lowes is an engineering marvel compared to this golf cart!!!!!!!!! You guys that seem to actually enjoy working on these things are either geniuses, or masochists, not sure which. Maybe a little of both. |

Re: Body Panel removal
You could have bought a newer cart without all those "engineering" issues! JUS SAYIN...

Re: Body Panel removal
Yeah, that new cart you posted DOES look good...but then I wouldn't be coming to you for all the parts I'll need on the Marathon!
BTW, I DID get the rod end yesterday, thanks. Once I manage to get the friggin' front end apart, I'll be installing it. Also, don't I recall you saying that if we click through your link to EZ-GO parts online, you get something out of it? Hope so, because that's how I got the replacement cowl too! |
