5.8? That's pretty low. How long have they been sitting? Batteries "boil" a little while being charged...

About three years without a charge on them.

Were they dry? Or was the acid level still good before you started reviving?

Then you are wasting your time. If they were nearly dry and have been sitting for 3 years, it's time for a new set...

Saftey issues? Don't really know that - but just make sure they don't get too hot, explode or start a fire in your garage! Don't waste too much time trying to get them back to normal - I doubt if it's going to happen...

Uh oh! Hi, new member here with a question about batteries.

If I give them an individual charge for 24hrs each on a 6V trickle charger, what charge should they get up to?

Reason I ask is I also got a cart from a buddy with Trojan T-105's in it that were dry and hadn't been charged for some time.

I know the cart was low use, and the plates looked "clean" through the caps - it just hadn't been maintained for some time.

Thanks,

Scott
