Bad Battery Frame
I need to replace my battery frame bracket, the angle iron is all corroded and about ready to break. The whole bottom of the frame is about half as thick as it used to be, pretty well ate up. Where is a good, reasonably priced source for another one? I have a 2000 EZ GO, 36 volt. Thanks!

Re: Bad Battery Frame
They make new battery racks for those carts. Not sure of the cost though.

Re: Bad Battery Frame
I noticed recently that one of my suppliers has an aluminum replacement frame! Pretty cool! No rust! When I come across it in the book I will repost w/ prices.

Re: Bad Battery Frame
That's right! Just make sure not to overfill the batteries and when acid does get on the frame be sure to clean it with baking soda and water to neutralize the acid.

Re: Bad Battery Frame
get a stick of angle iron from your local steel shop or you could get peices from lowes/home depot (cheaper for a full stick from the steel supply house but not much) and goto town cutting and welding. Sounds like a fun project! i would cut out the old in one peice and lay it out as a templet to pull all your measurements from.

Re: Bad Battery Frame
Here is something I heard about that might be useful for battery racks. Do a search for Randolph Acid Proof Battery Box Paint. It is a aircraft paint product and Aircraft Spruce has it for about $15.00 per quart.

Re: Bad Battery Frame
Thanks for all the replies, people. I took my crappy battery rack to the monument shop and axed him to sand blast it for me. At first he "said no can do", is way behind on blasting tomb stones, wouldn't be until spring . I just shook my head.
So then I blamed all this on my wife, her cart and all, just gotta get it done and get the vehicles back in the garage. It worked, he said "ok, come back Friday". It is a guy stick together against the wives thing, usually works well. Just don't tell her I blamed it all on her. I think there will be enough steel across the rear bottom of the rack to save it, but definitely thinner than original. I probably should do a hunk of angle iron and have my mig welding buddy weld it on there across the bottom. I found some new racks for $100 to $125 and an aluminum rack for like $225 or so. I'll try to make mine work first. Thanks agin, Bubba |
