Help with Speed/Power
Those smarter than I:
I have a 1995 Marathon/TXT with the stock 300A controller with a 5 pin connector and the stock motor. I feel like it should be faster then it is at the moment. It seems like my reverse is faster than my forward! When I push down on the pedal the solenoid clicks but I hear a buzz almost like the reverse sound byt VERY faint. Almost like I am hearing the whine of the electricity. Is this normal? Usually on this forum people jump to "Buy an new controller and motor". I would rather not stick another $1000 into the cart if I don't have to. Any suggestions? Should I send it into a local shop to check it out? BTW...New Batteries 1 month ago all testing perfect. Re: Help with Speed/Power
Can you gps the cart and tell us exactly how fast it is going? How loud is the noise if you are talking to a passenger can you still hear it or do you have to be sorta quiet to hear it?

Re: Help with Speed/Power
Not saying that this is 100%, but I have ran across this before on a series cart and it was the controller going out (forward buzz). What I don't understand is where it is faster in reverse? BTW, where did you get all your parts? We're neighbors and I could have saved you a ton on shipping...

Re: Help with Speed/Power
It is a very faint sound but it might be the controller. I just hate spending $400+ on a new one just to find out. Also, I have the older 5 pin controller. Do I need to do extensive wiring to switch to one of the newer 9 pin with the inputs for the speed/torque "chips" (Wires)?
It just seems faster in reverse. From a stop it jerks my head forward in reverse. Forward not so much. Maybe that is just how it goes as this is my first cart. Also a really stupid question. When installing the lift I noticed that the shocks did not "spring back" when I pushed them in. Almost static like I could compress and they would stay that way. Assuming this means they are toast correct? FAW |

Re: Help with Speed/Power
5 pin = series
9 pin = DCS Shocks? I don't know what all you have done to / added to your cart. Did you add 4 leaf springs on the back with the seat kit? You want front or rear shocks? |

Re: Help with Speed/Power
golf cart shocks do not "bounce back" when compressed. They simply take the "bounce" out of the leafsprings. When you pulled them apart, you should feel resistence. If so, they are just fine...

Re: Help with Speed/Power
Thanks Mike about the shocks... They do feel resistance when pulled in either direction. The rear does have 4 (or5) leaf springs. I believe that it came from EZ-GO with the rear seat and HD springs. They are definately beefier than the ones on a friends cart.
I will GPS the cart tonight and see the exact speed. Thanks for the info. |

Re: Help with Speed/Power
Did you add the 4 gauge cables when you did the lift?
