Default Hot Wires

Ok guys, heres the problem. I have a 92 EZGO, lifted with big Tires, High Speed motor, (36 v) 4 ga, wires through out, new trojan T105's , the wire that runs from the FNR switch to the controller gets burning hot, only that wire, and then I get the burning hot smell. My thought is that I need to upgrade the controller to handle the heavy load by the the tires, and high speed motor, can someone tell me if I am on the right path?

BTW the controller is stock, 275 amp curtis controller.

I think that one contact in the F/R switch for that cable is making a bad connection. Take the F/R apart and either replace the contacts or file them flat so they make good contact. You should probly replace that cable too. It won't be long and it will give out on you if its been that hot before. OR it could possibly be just the cable thats bad or the connection.

I'm having an issue with the high speed motor and over sized tire combination? Not a good mix - especially with a stock controller...

36 volt called Lightning, bought it from East Coast Custom Carts, makes the cart fly, went from 14 mph to 27.

Just because they are new doesn't mean they are making good connection. That one contact has probly been hot, so hot it will be discolored. If thats the case then theres your problem, either the contact or the connection.

No, its not a real good thing to run a high speed motor, lifted with big tires and a stock controller. Usually the controller gets hot and shuts down or fries all together. A high amp controller is highly recommended but not having one isn't the reason the 1 cable is getting hot. It will get worse when you put more amps to it guaranteed.
