Default 89 marathon, Move up to 42 volt?

Did I understand it correctly? that I can get a possible 15% increase in spead by adding one more 6 volt?

Do I need to do anything else?

I have already switch to 4G wires
thanks Guys

Hopefully I will be able to bring the bad boy home this weeekend, so i can replace the four batteries Like you Told me I should have. Just cause I am 58, it doesn't mean I cant do some childlike, stupid, nonlistening, stubborn, blockheaded, things, well that what my family tells me all the time

Yes, should be no problem. All the coils should be able to handle the additional voltage. Be aware that when you do this, you are putting additional strain on a 20 year old system and unless all the components are good and connections are clean and tight you may have meltdowns.
You will also need a way to charge the extra battery.
You say you're going to replace 4 batteries?? These normally have 6x6v.
