Default Next Step??

I am rebuilding my 95 ezgo medalist. I was hoping to gain some speed and torque. I replaced my controller with an Altrax 400 amp and new 4 Ga. cables. Which i know is only supposed to help with torque, and it did help. My problem is that my cart is only running at 8 mph, I am not sure what the speed was before the upgrade in controller. Could this possibly be a wiring problem, or battery, or am I going to have to replace the motor.
The cart is still a work in progress so dont judge yet!

Something is definately wrong! I can't tell your wiring, as the picture isn't big enough. How old are those batteries? Have you checked and re-checked your schematic?

The batteries are pretty old and I feel like they lose there charge rather quickly. Being a newbie I am not sure what is normal for the batteries. I can buy new batteries if necessary bu hate to if they ok.
I will try to post a bigger/ better picture of the wiring tomorrow.
I did this stuff hoping I would beat my dads cart but right now he's kicking my butt. I win off the start but his cart does 12 mph and right now I don't stand a chance. Thanks for the help.

I checked the tops of the posts on the batteries and a few say '04 and some say '05. i found 1 or 2 that also say KO on them, what does that mean?So is 4 years too old?
I tried to take better pictures but I left my good camera at the office so the camera phone will have to do for now. if these pictures done work let me know and ill take some more with my camera.
I am pretty sure the wiring is mostly correct. I did it wire by wire and the wires were all nicely labeled. Are we thinking that the only thing that is keeping me sooooo slow are the batteries??

Yes 4 yr old batteries can be toast...... get a voltmeter and a hydrometer and give us some readings taken at least 1 hr after charging

You can get a Hydrometer from O'Reiley for 2 bucks. You may not like what it tells ya but, after you check your batteries, you will at least know where your at. Ask me how I know. Mine are GARBAGE.

On a side not, just curious.....but your wiring is:

"Mostly correct".....

Sorry man, but that's funny. Do you work for the government??

Ok, I apologize, I just thought it was funny

If you can do it connect a volt meter to the total pack where the charge plug wires are connected. Use wires long enough that you can put the seat down and put the meter on the seat beside you. After you are charged up let it set for a couple of hours and read the pack voltage. Then take it out and drive it full throttle on flat ground and read the pack voltage. If your batteries are the reason you are going 8 mph there should be a major voltage drop.
