Red face EZ-GO Charging Time

Hello All,
I just purchased a used 2003 EG_GO. First time owing a golf cart. I am wondering how long the charger should be on to charge the batteries. I left it on for about 5 hours and the charger still showed the same rate of charge and the gage indicated on the cart, the same as when started the charge.
Also should the "RUN" "MAINTENANCE" be in a certain position to charge the batteries. I am assuming the key should be "OFF"

Appreciate any assistance

John

The tow / maint switch doesn't matter, as neither does the key switch. Sounds like you bought a cart that needs batteries...

The charger should have come down in that time to a finishing charge of say 3 amps or so at that point.... they can run that long easily but they should come down in amperage toward the end.... post your voltage readings for each battery atleast 1 hour after charging.... i bad one can cause this?

Hello again,
The batts were shipped from manurfacter May 08. I plugged it it again yesterday (11/07) and it finally started coming down on the charger and shut off after about 10 hours.
So I guess we will see what happens next.

Thanks all for the comments
