Best Radio Antenna
I've seen several antennas for use inside a roof mounted console, and I've seen medium sized ones mounted on the dash. I'm an hour outside Atlanta, so there are some dead zones, even with my car's antenna. What have folks had good luck or bad luck with?
thanks Adam |

Re: Best Radio Antenna
A power antenna will get the best reception.

Re: Best Radio Antenna
I don't know about an antenna mounted inside the console but, as far as reception with your distance from a major metro area I would place an antenna in the center of the roof.
A broad, flat ground plane is always best for reception. Just my .02 |

Re: Best Radio Antenna
Not ALL carts are made with fiberglass or plastic, some have steel. Some are full metal bodied. Just depends on what you have. Still not many places to put an antenna.

Re: Best Radio Antenna
I ended up getting this. It fits inside the console and seems to work pretty good.

Re: Best Radio Antenna
I suggest a 1/2 wavelegth antenna (that does not require ground plane at all). Mount it as high as you can and as far away from electrical system (motor/controller) as possible. That will give you the best reception! Marine 1/2 wavelength "based" antennas are available from many golf cart resources, but stay away from "rubber duckies" as they are called. Shakespeare marine antennas work great. Metz makes a great stainless that works extremetly well. Be sure no chassis mounting or connection of radio or antenna. Anything less than above reduces signal strength that reaches the radio. (period!), no matter what other claims are made. (the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth!)
