Motor and controller upgrade
I have a 97 ez-go txt 36v and want to install a 5" lift with 22x11 swampfox tires on 10" wheels. Will the motor or controller, or both, need to be upgaded from stock? Also, which is better, axle or spindle lifts? I'm leaning towards axle because mine is bent (kids+tree). Thanks

Re: Motor and controller upgrade
Your motor will be OK - a controller upgrade isn't necessary, but something that you may 'want' to do. The FIRST thing you need to do is buy a DECENT lift kit. Don't cut corners here - you'll regret it later. Second, a complete 4gauge cable set is a MUST. This alone is what all our rebuilt / lifted carts recieve. Many customers bring their carts in for this upgrade and really like it. Spend your cash wisely and only do it once

Can you reccommend a decent lift kit for my cart, I don't want to do this twice.

Re: Motor and controller upgrade
We sell quite a few different kits. Our carts we build only get the Factory lifts, unless we add a long travel. The best alternative kits are either the Jake's kits or All Sports. Like I said before, you just want to avoid many of the the kits that require a spindle riser adaptor. I'd be happy to PM you some suggestions...

Re: Motor and controller upgrade
Trust the above info.....
I bought a lift off of ebay and am still trying to make the *#%* thing work. When your looking at a 'cheaper' lift, consider the fact that a factory or quality lift comes with ALL the parts you need AND, Good Customer Service. The kit that I paid $180.00 for came with none of the above and the tolerances were crap. Nothing fits and it's been apart in the shop since last weekend. If Mike's offering advice, take it ! Kev |

Re: Motor and controller upgrade
I have to agree on the lifts. I personally have not installed any of these cheap lifts but have seen a bunch come thru my shop. I have even had to fix some the where the quality of the lift was so thin it bends easy. Jakes/all sports/ factory ezgo are the ONLY way to go IMO
