Default Need more speed

I have a 1995 medalist non-dcs. It is lifted and has 22 inch tires on it. It will only run about 11.5 mph. I do not want much maybe about 4 or 5 mph more. A buddy told me to have the motor rewinded. Will that help and how much?

Road dog welcome to bgw!
Take your time and read alot before you buy. D&D or EMP can rewind for more speed and/or torque. ...read about cable upgrades, controller size, and battery upkeep to get the little extra you are looking for.....

That is about what I have gained with the upgrades I have done to my '92 Marathon. I started at 10 mph and am now at 16-17 mph. I added the following. Alltrax AXE 4844 controller, new batteries, added seventh battery for 42v, 4ga wire upgrade, Delta Quiq 48 charger set for 42v, 20"X10"X8" tires and 170-001-001 D and D motor. That motor gained me 3 mph. About $2000.00 worth.

The motor is a torque mostly motor as I wasn't happy with how much it slowed on hills and the motor fixed that. I use the cart for golf so I was able to get the seventh battery in the center of the battery compartment. The cart had a W-R 586 solenoid so I left it and am triggering it with 36v. To go to 48v I would have had to put two batteries in the bag well or use 6-8v batteries and that was not something I wanted to do.

Just like the old racing axiom "Speed costs money-how fast do you want to go".

Can I just add a 7th 6v battery without changing anything? Will it hurt anything? BTW thanks for the help.

No. Yes.

At a minimum you would need to upgrade the controller and upgrade all the power wires to 4 ga and trigger the solenoid with 36v.

Like Scottyb Said, all the information you are asking for is in this forum, just got to spend some time reading and searching. Its already been said but speed costs money.
I have a 95 medalist w/ 20" tires. When i lifted it and changed the tires and controller from stock I went from 9.5 mph to 13.5mph. That cost $1,125. I am going to put in a d&d motor soon and should go 18. That will be another $400 or so. So if my math is correct thats roughly $170 per mph. I know it wont always work out like that but it will give you an idea. I never realized how much i have put in this cart till just now! I must be crazy, or wild.
Good Luck
