tire size for unlifted cart

just got my first cart. it is a 99 txt. it has stock 18x8.50-8 tires on it now. i am wanting to put some new ones on with more traction. i am looking at some 18x9.50-8 but i am not sure of clearance issues with the tie rods. looks like only about a half inch of clearance now. with the new tires being wider will they rub? looks like it will be ok on the back. does anyone have 9.50 wide on there unlifted cart?

You can run a 20 in the rear if the width is not over 9.00 ..... that's about it I believe THey will rub up front when you turn and bounce

everythingcarts.com has some 18x9.50-8 listed for unlifted carts so i wasnt sure. the only place i am worried about clearance is with the tie rod end. shouldnt be a problem anywhere else, the 9.50 width only adds 1/2 inch width on each side of wheel and height stay the same.

Sounds like you got a good bead on the required clearance.... If you have 3/4 clear now you should get away with 1/2 more.... but remember that tire pressure and cornering forces will play a role in actual clearance.... basically, the stock tires fit the stock cart. anything that is noticeably bigger requires a lift kit

i am not sure, hoped that someone else already tried this. guess i will try to find some 8.50s with better traction. i have a fairly steep hill on my trail through the woods. my riding mower with turf tires handles it ok when its dry. harder to find 18x8.50-8 tires with good traction.
