steering problem '02 workhorse
Does anyone know what length the slip shaft should be that goes from the steering box to the steering column. I have noticed since I got this cart that on the occasional bumpy pasture drive my steering will "bottom out" and clunk pretty hard at times. After some searching and inspection I assume it is because the previous owner had remounted the springs on top of the axle plate.
I ordered a 5" drop axle lift and installed it today and bolted the springs to the underside of the steering box mounting plate but the shaft bottoms out as soon as the cart is lowered to the ground. The spacers that I reused that go under the steering box don't appear to be factory. (I think he made some when he swapped the springs on top.) I would think that I would have more room for play now that the springs are mounted on the underside of the plate. What gives??? Did he possibly add some length to the shaft? Do I need to find the correct spacers to go under the steering box? Anyone got any ideas what I can measure, check, etc??? |
