Default PDS controller question

I had heard you could adjust the controller to get more speed and was wondering if someone could explain?

Do a search for "speed chip".
You can get up around 18-19 MPH for just $10-20 but you can't really get any more torque that way.
How fast and how torquey do you want your cart to be?

You can buy one of those "Freedom Chips" from ebay for $5.00 delivered to your door. It's just a plastic plug and a couple of 3" wires.

$3.95 plus $1.50 s/h = fair price.

http://cgi.ebay.com/EZGO-SPEED-CHIP-...item2c51a0f226

Here's an example of stupid:

$69.95... but you get free shipping..

http://cgi.ebay.com/25-EZGO-SPEED-CH...item2c514b7a36

Now, except for the price, what's the difference in them? People taking advantage of gullible people.

But to be totally honest... if you want the chip, it's not going to make a big difference for you. I'm saving my coins for a controller upgrade.

the second link is $69.95 for 25 of them.

makes a big difference in a stock cart. I have a 06 pds cart with no mods and the speed chip. it added 5mph as claimed. the added speed comes at a slight loss of torque.

So it is... Thought that was really bad. Okay, here's one for $19.95 plus $1.00 s/h. Still... compare the two and see if you see $16.95 difference in the two.

$69.95? Do you at least get a drink and a kiss for that ?? I bought mine from my local E-Z-Go guy for $10. Was more than ebay but I like to keep my local dealers happy for when I might need some help.

kgsc....did u lose any torque getting your cart to go that fast? right now i think mine has a chip in it. it has a stock controller and stock motor. i put a 4 in lift and run 22 in tires it goes around 20MPH but has hardly any torque. I want to upgrade the controller but dont want to lose any speed.

ms, mine also has the 22in tires and with just the chip 20 is about right. You do lose the constant speed when climbing but part of that is the controller. I am now running the Alltrax DCX400 set at full and the cart will run 23-26 depending on its mood and how many beers the driver has had and got the torque back. A must are the 4ga wires and bigger solenoid if you get the bigger controller. The battery wires would help now and make sure the wires running to the motor are heavy enough also.

Good luck..

Personally I don't think you'll be happy until you go to a Alltrax 400 controller.

I climb hills easily now that I couldn't climb with a stock controller and 4 ga. cables. I also tried the different chips before getting the DCX400, no comparison on speed or torque.

This is what I have in my cart. It is set for steep hill on one side and freedom on the other. The only draw back is having to stop and turn off the RUN/TOW switch, flip the switch, count to 5 and turn the RUN/TOW back on and away we goooooo.
