Default 1990 Ezgo Needs More Power

I just purchased a 1990 EZGO. It has a lift and the bigger tires and camo paint and all the upgrades that I want BUT.... It lacks power. Really drags on a hill. Is there anything I can do to the cart for a little added power/torque?

Thanks

Series or PDS cart. Have you checked your batteries and installed 4 guage wire?

The batteries were just replaced in November and I'm not sure about the gauge of the wire. I will check that. Do you think loosing the weight of the back seat would
make a big difference? When I say it drags on hills I mean I could walk faster up a slight hill than it drives. Not even talking about big hills.

go with either #4 or #2 wire. use welding cable. it's more flexible and because it has 3-400 fine strands, you are getting more copper with less airspace between the strands, therefore more amps through the wire.the same logic applies to the heavy duty forward/reverse switch. high amperage controller passes more amps and can handle more draw. the high torque motor speaks for itself.( you will loose top end speed with and increase in torque, though)

How much did that cost you if you don't mind me asking? Just trying to see what I have gotten myself into.

Thanks

Sackman, it sounds like you need a 400amp contoller and 4 gauge at the minimum. Do you have a PDS or Series. It will be cheaper to upgrade a series.

I'm not sure if it is a PDS or series. I will ask the original owner if they know. Thanks TDOG and pansser.
