i bought a 87 ezgo marathon that needed a set of batteries i put all the batteries right but now one of the battery cables are getting hot the one on the driver side and was wondering if any one can tell me why

Cables overheat for 2 reasons:
Dirty connections Loose connections Is corrosion present? Are the cable old and brittle? Are the lugs in poor shape? An '87 with original cables needs a new set NOW! I prefer 6g Welding Cable for it's low resistance, flexibility, and longevity. |

yeah the cables are corroded and they look old too. will it be ok to ride it around like that till i get some new ones?

Absolutely NOT!
That cable is gonna get so hot it will melt the battery terminal. Fix the cables, or prepare to buy more new batteries. |
