Default What will happen to my motor/controller?

I am getting thoroughly confused. If I lift and add 22" tires to my 2004 EzGo PDS cart what if anything will happen to the motor and controller?

Thanks

No.

Up until recently I ran a 6" lift with 22" tires. It ran great - for several years. The motor will need to work a bit harder to spin a larger tire - ergo, a slight loss in torque but a gain in top speed.

It wasn't until I took a ride in a modified cary that I got the bug for more speed and torque.

If you do lots of hill climbing and riding 4 people there is a chance you can pop the controller, it happened to me.

I put a Jakes spindle lift and 23/10.50/12 tires on my 2004 PDS. It has a back seat and my daughters and their freinds rode it for a couple of hours and parked for a few minutes and it will kinda bump a half foot and then nothing!! Be careful. I just got my new Alltrax 600 dcx controller 400 amp contactor and I am waiting for my (NEW) EMP motor. I hope to have better luck with this set up.

I have seen a few thermal shutdown but never popped. I know it CAN happen though. I wouldn't worry to much about the motor just the controller. Tattle tales signs will be the controller getting real hot. Make sure you have good cables and connections. You always seem to find the weak cable or connection after adding a lift with bigger tires.

I wouldn't go any bigger than 22's without at least upgrading to a bigger controller.

Most definately! A freind of mine at the lake lifted his E-Z-GO TXT and it kept shutting down. I added larger cables and it hasn't thermally shut down since. If your just cruising around mainly you shoudn't have anything to worry about.....BUT if you plan on doing any off roading you need a controller. Make sure all your cables are good and have good connections.

You could get a higher ratio gear and it would lessen the strain on the controller...but at that point you may as well buy a controller. A controller is easier to install.

Nothing inless you do a lot of hill climbing and slow speed driving. I have a 04 PDS with 23" All Trails and it runs 22 MPH and I haven't had the first bit of trouble with it. It's our beach cart and doesn't see any hills, well except when I took it to the first Bonanza.
