DCS cart won't go in reverse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Like the title says cart won't go in reverse. I have a 99 ezgo dcs 48 volt cart with alltrax 400dcx controller white-rogers solenoid with correct resistors and diodes with 4" lift and 23" tires cart ran fine for4 a year with this setup backed it out from beside house after a complete charge ~49+ volts fine got stuck in the snow backing out so I went forward still stuck tried reverse and it was gone. The diagonostic code shows open field coil when in reverse so I ohmed it out and it shows 2.3 ohms across black and white wires from controller to motor but of course that was without voltage across. Doesn't it use the same field coil fo both forward and reverse just change polarity with the controller? I need some help diagnosing what I have going on i'm hoping its not the controller but my luck it is I would rather replace the motor than controller it's still factory. PS my solenoid resistor gets really HOT.

It's either the reverse micro or a bad controller...

I forgot to mention that I have a analog battery guage and it shows in both forward and reverse but turns off in neutral so doesn't that mean the microswitch is working? I assume I got a bad controller if I am thinking right and wouldn't you know it is out of the two year warranty.

The DCS carts are a bear to diagnose at times
 Look at the bright side - haven't you always wanted a 500 or 600 amp?Seriously, before you coin up for a new controller, trace ALL your wires and connectors to make sure that the micro "signal" is making it to the controller... |

Pretty sure somewhere here there is a DCS troubleshooting chart. If not I can send you one. I hope for you it isn't the controller but.....

hey, if you happen to have those charts to trouble shoot this problem, I would love to see if i can get a copy of them. my cart will not go in reverse. i do not know if it is a controller issue or solenoid. the microswitch is good
