Converting cart to PDS
I am brand new to the forum and golf carts at that. I have a lifted 2005 36volt EZ-Go with I assume the standard motor and wanted to see what would go into upgrading it to a PDS system to get more speed/performance. Is this easy as buying a PDS motor or what all would go into the conversion? What would I be looking at in terms of $$? Any and all ideas and suggestions is very much appreciated!

Re: Converting cart to PDS
1st - WELCOME!
2nd - You don't want to upgrade to a PDS. The series is better than PDS for a lifted application and the conversion would cost you more than a used cart. To do it, you'd be looking at a new controller, motor, f/r switch, wiring harness... Bad idea |

Re: Converting cart to PDS
Series carts just do better in our area lifted over a PDS. Plain and simple...
Most people get a little pee'd off when they buy a PDS lifted cart, then 3 months later they burn out their controller and they have to pay for the upgrade. Something you don't have to do with a series cart. Now - Once you upgrade the controller on a PDS, then you are correct - they are fine. I don't think this poster asking the question will want to go to the expense in completely converting his series cart to a PDS system - Something I say is a bad idea. Do you recommend him doing the change, SMS? |

Re: Converting cart to PDS
Both the series and PDS can be lifted. However, if both cars keep the stock controllers the PDS controller is much more likely to go into thermal overload than the series controller. At least that has been my experience. Would any of the dealers out there agree?
