New Batteries?
I have a 2001 PDS with 22 in tires & an Alltrax DCX400 controller.I made a 4.4 mi loop with a starting pack voltage of 38.2.When I got back the pack was 37.9.I made another loop and when I got back The voltage was 36.4
Is this a normal range (9mi) or should I be looking for new batteries? The route had some small rolling hills and my batteries are Trojans with G6 stamped on them. |

Re: New Batteries?
Straight driving, no stops? 8.8 miles isn't too bad. Was this on grass? Dirt? Gravel? Concrete? Tire pressure? All these things will also have an effect the battery run time...

Re: New Batteries?
I agree with Mike, doing 36 holes on a golf course is the same distance and to have life left when you finish is good. Add to that a lift kit, large tires and a big controller and your range could be shorter.

Re: New Batteries?
It was a paved road.My tire pressure is around 12psi.I ran each loop nonstop WOT and only stopped long enough to check the volts.
I take it that my batteries should be ok for the near future ? |

Re: New Batteries?
You should be fine with those batteries. 36.4v is about 50% charge to extend your battery life, you don't want to run them lower than this if you can help it.
Recharge your batteries every time you have 15 minutes of pedal time or more. |

Re: New Batteries?
Thanks, just one more question- Has anyone ever put one 6v battery in the extra space under the seat for 42v ? Would it be worth the trouble?
I`d like to upgrade to 48v but can`t put batteries in the bagwell because of my speakers. |

Re: New Batteries?
I have a 42v cart with 7x6v batteries. It is an improvement of about 15% over 36v. You will need a 42v charger to do it or a separate 6v charger for the orphan battery. My advice would be to wait until you need batteries then get 6x8v and go to 48v and get the full 30% speed and torque increase.

Re: New Batteries?
Yes thats what I`m going to do. Meanwhile I`ll keep an eye out for a 48v charger.
THANKS again Big John: |
