Default Centennial 8 volt batteries

I have 5 centennial 8 volt golf cart batteries I need to get rid of, the date code on batteries is H-7 which means August 2007 so I have found out. Any idea of what price I should sell them for? Also I am looking to buy some 6 volt batteries for my mother in laws golf cart and she doesn't want to pay alot. I found one local golf cart place here that has some Napa 8144 golf cart batteries made in 2005 for $25 each, is that a good price? Thanks for your help.

Default Re: Centennial 8 volt batteries

Putting my 2 cents in and I stand to be corrected by the experts here on the forum:

Based on what I've read here on the forum, and based on what I learned in researching batteries (I had to buy 6 new 8 volts the other day), golf cart batteries have an expected lifespan of 4 to 5 years under 'normal' use.

From what I understand, the batteries need to be charged at least every 2 weeks to maintain their longevity. Leaving a battery unused and uncharged for over 2 weeks causes a buildup of sulphation on the plates, which inhibits the battery from properly charging. Over time, it is normal for a battery to have increased levels of sulphation, which is why an older battery cannot take a full charge.

I would not trust a used battery. In the long run, the $25.00 batteries are going to cost you more than purchasing a set of good, new batteries. Also, a battery should be installed and used within a year of the date code.

I just purchased a set of 8 volts at Sam's Club for under $80 apiece. They sell the 6 volt batteries for under $75.

I hope this info helps you.
