Will a HD White Rodgers 36volt solenoid work with 48volts?

If its made for 36volts the 48 will eventually fry it, better to buy a 48 volt solenoid.

I have had mixed results doing that. Some of them burn out real quick...some last a lot longer. Your better off buying a 48 volt unit if your worried about it.

I am running the stock 36v White Rodgers solenoid on my 48v 400a system for allmost a year. So far, so good, but I know one day it will fail. It gets warm, but not hot. Since you are running a 500a controller I would definately replace the solenoid. It's the amps passing through it that heats it up, not necessarily the voltage.
