Default 1990 ezgo question!! please help

Good evening to all. I have recently acquired a 1990 ez go controller cart. I am having some issues with it though, when you push down the "gas" pedal(elec cart though) you have to depress it about 3/4 way and the cart takes off like a rocket, no slow take off. Also the reverse is not working, help please!! trying to get it repaired so my friends grandkids can use it!! thanks for any help. I did try to search for a solution, but could not find anything!! will keep looking!

Reverse Micro Switch is probably bad, Located Behind the F/R switch, and then the micro switch on the pot box is probably bad, follow gas pedal linkage into the battery compartment, it will be a stainless box, and the micro switch will be below the throttle arm on the box, if all good and still lurches, check the linkage, let us know what you find, there are a lot of other things it could be on those old marathons.

havent looked to see it one is on this cart, but will this prevent the cart from going in reverse?? was thinking it might be micros, but wasnt sure, i already had to do some replacement wiring( had a schematic so i know conductors are landed on the right terminals).

I am getting QT right here while my wife watches Idol in the living room

can you check ohms ? If so, I will find what you need to do or someone that knows how to tell you will. I checked mine while slowly pushing the throttle down (unhooked) to make sure it had smooth reading from start to finish. I don't expect any of what I just said to make sense to you since it really didn't even make sense to me....but one of these high tech guys will be along to clear it all up for me....and you

Ya I was going to mention Ohms next but I figured we should start with micro switches, but 20yr old micros tend to not work 100% of the time on those marathons, but if you check continuity on all you micros (including reverse) and no go, it is possible to have a blown controller, and yes sometimes they will work in forward only or the other way around,

i checked the potentiometer and it is scaling as it should, well somewhat, the previous owner screwed a wooden block to the back side of the throttle pedal, thereby preventing it from going full throttle(one heck of a govenor huh)..... will check the micros shortly!!
