Your opinon on this cart?
So the wife has decided that the Marathon is too "boy" for her to drive.
Can't say I hate that. But now I'll need to buy her one she can "girl" it up & call her own. So one thing she doesn't like is how loud the gas cart is. It has the stock exhaust, but the bigger tires & CPP clutch springs definitely made things louder. So here is one that happens to be for sale near my house. http://kpr.craigslist.org/rvs/1611922545.html I'm sure I can get it a bit less than he's listed here, but that still isn't a screamin deal. It has pretty new batteries, enclosure & interior is in good shape considering the age, tires are OK, goes about 12 - 14 mph. We're going to test drive it again this evening. Just thought I'd get your 2 cents. The only issue I have with it is that it's almost 30 yrs old. But I doubt I will do much to it, other than clean things up a bit, maybe upgrade cables, tires, etc. She'd be using it to drive down to the beach, poke around the neighborhood, to the coffee stand, etc. All within about 2 - 3 miles from home, and only small hills. |

Re: Your opinon on this cart?
Well, drove our cart over to this guy's place & took both his electric carts out for a spin. Mine will do 20+ mph cruising with 2 people in it. The first one, the white/red one show above, only did about 9 - 10 mph up & down the same street.... and took a while to get up there. I look under the seat & his "pretty new" batteries are dated 5/06 & I see a little corrosion around the connectors. Hmmm, guess not.
So we look at the other one. It's an 01 Club Car, 48 volt, bone stock, beige on beige. It got up to 10 mph WAY quicker. Then got up to about 16 mph pretty easily, then down a small hill to about 19 mph. So when I look under the seat, I find Trojan batteries, but couldn't find a date. And also saw plenty of water on the tops of the batteries. I'm not sure if he just filled them or if thats coming out of them. But he wants like $1900 for it so it's out of the question anyway. Was good to get a comparison though. Frankly I'd love to find a steal on a cart with dead batteries. |
