Default 42 volt on a PDS?

I am sure this has been covered a hundred times, but I cannot find it on the search button. My neighbor had a 2004 EZ GO PDS and he wants to add a 7th battery giving him 42 volts. Does this work OK. His only upgrade is a speed chip. Another thing can a 7th battery be added to a 98 EZ GO TXT. Let me know if more information is needed to answer the question. Thanks

Typically controllers won't last very long in over voltage conditions unless they are rated for that voltage. There have been instances where some have run this setup on 36v controllers but...........IMO it is not without risking a $400 controller. Ultimately it's your call.

I agree. Normally you can overvoltage a series controller by 6v but it runs right on the edge of smoke. I'm not sure of the effects to a sepex controller, add the speed chip to that and a load, you could be asking for trouble.
