Golf cart basic questions-plz help :)
Hey guys,
I'm brand new to golf carts. I work at a production plant and we have a golf cart on site. We are looking to put solar panels on it to get a little extra travel out of it during the day. I figure that I should ask guys who really know so i came here and have been looking around for an hour now and have picked up some jargon, but what is the meaning and difference of DCS and PDS. I know they have something to do with the F/R controller just wanna know more! Also, the cart has 6 batteries and looks like the 4th picture down in this wiring diagram. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...g-manuals.html Does this mean 36 volt? Thanks in advance!!!!!! |

I have a solar powered cart. Glad to here you are considering putting panels on your cart. I can help. First, where are you located in the US. Second how many miles app. do you travel in one day. Third, is your cart in and out of a warehouse or is it all outdoors all the time. Is it used 8 hours a day or is there a swing and night shift. That will get us started. leapingbuddha

Re: Golf cart basic questions-plz help :)
DCS = "Drive Control System" 1996-1999 model years.
Shunt aka Sepex system. FNR by drivers knee AND Run/Tow Maint switch on controller environmental cover. PDS = "Precision Drive System". 2000-2009??? Second generation shunt/sepex system from EZGO. FNR is a rocker switch on the dash (except for very early 2000 model year) AND Run/Tow Maint switch on controller cover. Both systems are regenerative braking systems. |

thanks guys,
leapingbuddha i will try to get this information in about 10 min. gotta go ask the guy in the shop who uses it. also, with the regenerative braking systems, does this mean that when you brake it charges the battery? that's pretty cool. lol anyway let me go get that info. |

Re: Golf cart basic questions-plz help :)
ok here's the deal. it is a 36v (3 caps on each battery). driven during the day only around 7 hours. or as much as possible until it dies. they are saying it dies too early. all they do is bring it inside a garage to charge it twice a day and it doesn't run around any warehouse, strictly outside usage. im wondering what my my solar panel options are. iv seen that sharp has a 187W roof panel out. alsol, management wants an actual roof panel from a solar company.unless i can convince them otherwise with your help! thanks,
b EDIT:the cart also has the Trojan Mile Master battery. T-105 this any good? |

How old are the batteries? How well are they maintained? If the batteries are old and/or not looked after properly the runtime will diminish significantly. Just a thought. |

point to point run time. i dont think those guy take the best care of it at all lol. i just got to this company and this is my first gig as a co-op. it carries a load too. like they will have gear in the back. the batteries get depleted a lot so is it safe to assume that the batteries are basically shot? not sure of the year of the cart. i will try to find it online or is there an easy way to tell?
