Default How do I test to see if PDS chip is working correctly?

I have the red chip installed which is supposed to be the speed chip. I can only get 12mph gps. I'm assuming the chip is not working properly. I see in the manual it is supposed to beep differently depending on which chip.

How do I test to see if speed chip is being recognized?

thanks

I did the same thing.

Turn the run tow switch to "tow."

Turn back to "run."

Enjoy the speed!

The controller needs to reset in order to see the chip.

I'm not sure that it matters....

Worse comes to worse I suppose you can turn the switch to tow and disconnect the positive of the battery.

Plug it all back in.

When you take your fool off the gas you'll notice the complete lack of braking effect and noticably higher top speeds.

Anytime you work on a PDS cart you need to turn the Run/ Tow switch to off. These controllers are very senstive to spikes.
If the speed chip is connected correctly it shouldn't have any regan effect when you take your foot off the gas. It should coast and when you are on flat ground riding at full speed it shouldn't cut in and out like the All Terrain chip does.

Can I purchase 1 chip that will increase the speed, hill climbing and torque?
Or, do I have to purchase individual chips?

If so, please provide me with the location?

I believe you are looking for the PDS Silver Bullet
There are 4 chips. Each delivers different speed & torque values..... You pick one chip anmd run with it..... there is a push button selector available somewhere that gives the driver acess to all 4 chips but it is too pricey to have become popular...

Thanks for the reply.

So with the PDS Red, Speed Chip, will I notice any decrease in pulling power?

Will the chip increase the hill climbing speed and power?

Everyone please excuse me, I am new to the Golf Cart World. So far, I have found it to be very interesting and at times confusing.

Typically if you gain speed from a given motor you will loose torque. Torque is what you need to get up the hill.... one way to gain speed and torque is to up the voltage feed to a motor. Some controllers can increase torque and speed, like the Altrax 400DCX for your cart. It will take you to 20mph and run faster uphill. But you are not gonna get those results from a $5 chip

You should also be cautious when going down "steep hills". You will be limited only by the amount of braking you apply or the size tree you hit, should you end up out of control. Gravity makes these things go fast when you have the "freedom" chip installed, depending on the angle of the incline.

I've also read on here that you might damage your stock motor by going downhill too fast. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong on that issue.
