94 EZGO wont go
A friend of mine has a 94 ezgo, he installed the batteries back wards. Don't ask. I mean the pos was hooked to the neg and the neg was hooked to the pos. I corrected the batteries and now it will not move. Could this have fried the controller? Also the charger is acting funny. It will charge for a few min, then it will turn on and off every few seconds. It has the 3 prong controller to the solenoid. Any help would be greatly appreciated......

Re: 94 EZGO wont go
Pos to neg, pos to neg..... that is how golf cart batteries connect. It is in series as opposed to parallel ... how did you hook them up?
OH you mean the PACK was connected to the cart Backwards! I get it |

Re: 94 EZGO wont go
Check the micros and the reed switch. I think, all that lightweight stuff would fry ...

Re: 94 EZGO wont go
I did notice the diode on the solenoid was fried and I replaced that also. I checked the micro switches, the 2 on the f/r and the one on the ITS with my VOM. They checked out fine. When you say reed switch, what and where is this located? Thanks again...

Re: 94 EZGO wont go
Also the charger, when it is on and charging there is 41-42 volt going to the batteries like there should be. Then it will start to turn off then back on every few seconds. Any ideas?

Re: 94 EZGO wont go
From reading the post's I found out what a reed switch is and this cart does not have one. The charger plugs are the older style but not the crows foot type. What next?

Re: 94 EZGO wont go
Does the cart run? If not you may need to check the magnetic reed switch in the charger receptacle .....

Re: 94 EZGO wont go
The charger recep is wired with the white (+) going to the solenoid and the black (-) going to the controller. I do not see a red wire or reed switch. The solenoid does fire but the cart will not move. I checked the pack voltage this morning and it was at 35 volts. I hooked up my old old charger (early 80's) strait to the pack a few minutes ago to bring the batteries back up to norm. Would low voltage make the cart not respond at all? Correct me if I'm wrong, I thought I read some where the diode is not needed on the small terminals on the solenoid. Is this correct?
Thanks again... |

Re: 94 EZGO wont go
I think, you need the diode and resistor. I had one cart that would not run without it. But, I have seen carts without?
