Hard to shift F/R switch lever on '98 TXT
Any ideas on why the lever on forward/reverse switch is so tight and hard to shift? It's a '98 EZGO TXT. I can't visually see any problems. Anyone had this problem before? I've been searching archives and have had no luck. Thanks for any help!!

Has it always been like this, or did it just start being hard to shift?

This is a real common problem on an unmaintained cart. Best thing you can do is remove the moveable contacts and lube the center shaft.

Re: Hard to shift F/R switch lever on '98 TXT
Did the linkage, by chance, slip on the main rod. My uncle's EZGO did that and he had to lift the seat and manually line it up because it was too far to one side to come back in the other direction. Took me back to the day when the 3 on the column got hung up occasionally. He didn't think about simply adjusting it. But he is 87 so we'll give him that one.

Re: Hard to shift F/R switch lever on '98 TXT
Thanks to all of you for your replies. It hasn't always been hard to shift. I had been laid up for a while and not using the cart as much, so, from what I'm reading, I probably need to disassemble the switch (shaft) and clean and grease? Thanks again for ya'lls help!!!! Larry

Re: Hard to shift F/R switch lever on '98 TXT
club car actually has a neutral slot in the trans, where as yamaha & ez-go just goes between gears..... that is why this willnot work with yamaha or ez-go... DON'T TRY IT!!!

CLUBCARGREENMACHINE, this is the ELECTRIC section, not gas. Your advice does not apply to this cart.
