Brake Help
Just installed new pads on my EZGO. I earlier noticed that my braking would be almost non-existent a few days after going through some shallow water not even above the hubs. After puting the new ones on and get really good stopping power went though a little more water again and a few days later almost no brakes again. Going to try to adjust the star gear but it should be adjusting on its own.
help! |

Re: Brake Help
What year cart? and when you did the brakes did you lube the boss's and the slides as well as the star gear? If you did you maybe did not put too much lube and the water has washed the excess on your brakes and contaminated them?

Re: Brake Help
2001. The system seemed to work fine when I installed the new pads. There was plenty of lube and everything moved easily

Re: Brake Help
I would check the cart on jack stands if you could. It does take a little while for these brakes just like a car to settle in . Did your old brakes maybe mess up the drums? If they were bad enough they could have glazed them and you won't have good brakes either.

Re: Brake Help
They say you can scuff them up with sand paper to try and get them to work better or if they are bad enough you could just get some from a sponsor here at the fine BGW site.

Re: Brake Help
took them off adjusted the star gear and it now screaches to a stop. I think the self-adjust mech is not working. Has anyone tried the disk brakes made for the EZGO

Re: Brake Help
Did you ever get the brake issue fixed? I am having pretty much the same issue. Practically no brakes after putting on a lift kit and bigger tires.

Re: Brake Help
I have to keep manually adjusting the brakes. Plan to put on some disk brakes, but new batteries are going to have to go on first. Sams batteries only lasted about 2.5 years now they leak and won't hold a good charge. Gonna spend the extra dough and get some Trojans before turkey season gets here...

Re: Brake Help
The auto adjuster can be easily misaligned. I noticed mine was not engaging.

Re: Brake Help
The Ausco brakes are killer. They stop my workhorse better than the drums ever thought about doing. Good investment in my opinion.
