Default ST Sport II - Possibly OverHeating the Controller

Hey again.... I believe my cart is an 08 model ST Sport II....
I've used it to pull my boat(18' CC) around the yard as well as haul some pretty heavy loads of gravel... amongst other things of course, but those have been some of the heavier loads I've put on it...

As of lately I've started to have some issue with the cart coming to a halt after prolonged use... I've managed to till up and harrow out about 2 acres of land(with a tractor)... About a week back.... my wife was driving, my neighbor in the passenger seat, and I was sitting in the bed along with a 50# bag of seed, working a hand-held seed spreader... It came to a stop... she would try giving it throttle, and it would attempt to go, but then would just give up...<--cart was fully charged.... well... at minimal 90%

The next day or two, the birds were eating all my grass seed... So my other neighbor let me borrow this roller. It's not that much of a task to handle, as it was really meant for "manual" use on baseball infields... It weighs allot when filled, but like I mentioned, it's not that hard to move around... yet after about 20 minutes, my cart came to a halt... both times that ti's done this, if we let it sit for a minute, it'll start running again, but fairly weak.... if we let it sit for an hour, it's back to normal...

Naturally, I do not have my alarm hooked up, so I can't tell you if it let out any troublecodes...

Could it be my FNR switch?

Would the Vehicle Performance System from EZGO make any difference in this aspect? I believe my controller came set for high speed when purchased, which it has a red sticker on the cover(freedom plug???)... I do have the factory cables(good condition), and do plan to upgrade to the 4 gauge cables soon...

Or should I just save the money on a 48V conversion?

sounds to me you need to remove the speed chip and see what it does.

I order all my carts with 4ga already. You may already have 4 ga wires.

It does sound to me you have overloaded the controller. Is it still in warranty. if so get them to give you another one. I have pulled many f-250's around the parking lot (sister company to a body shop) with an electric spt 2 and never had issues, but i wasn't pulling it more than mayb 10-15 minutes. I would check all connections first.

converting to 48V would require a new controller and solenoid.

your controller is overheating and doing exactly what it is supposed to do. you just need a 400a alltrax/4ga cables and things will be much better imo. still might fall short of your expectations but there will be improvement.

Thanks guys....
So setting the controller to the TQ setting can help with heat? If so, then I kind of like the idea of the Performance System.... But then again, if all I need is a controller, solenoid, and batteries, makes me kind of like the idea of going the 48V route... Which I thought I read it has the Performance System built into EZGO's latest 48v controllers... I could also play with the idea of rigging up a thermally controlled fan.... Like that of a PC or the likes...

I have no idea if I have 4 gauge wires or not and I just haven't taken the time to look and see if it's printed on the cables.. I'm not that familiar with working with bigger wires... I have a small mig welder who's cables look the same size....

I really don't use this cart that hard very often... but I also wouldn't mind a little more power/speed as well...
