Electric EZ-GO power increase
Looking for ways to increase the power on hills with my 1987 electric EZ-GO.

Upgrade the controller. Switch wires to 4GA or 2GA

No controller on 87 model.
Add voltage to your existing system (with caveats) or pay up for conversion to ESC. |

If you are not using the cart for golfing, add a 12v battery (series connected) to the bagwell area to increase the total voltage to 48v. I added a contactor and a momentary switch to actuate the additional 12v so that I only use the 48v as a booster (for hills), not all the time.
I had already installed the 4ga wires throughout with no noticeable performance improvement. However, if anything (wires, solenoid) gets warm replace it with bigger!! Dennis |
