Default Rear Leaf Springs - 84 E-Z-Go TXT

Hi guys,

Nice to be back to spring, and finally time to work on the old '84 E-Z-Go my buddy dumped at my place.

One of the things that needed replacing was a broken rear leaf spring. My question is:
- If I find a leaf spring that is 1" shorter, but still supports 1250 lbs, is this acceptible (3 leaf - almost identical in appearance)?
- Does the shock need to be detached from the axle?
- Is there a way to get more space between the axle and frame so that you don't need to put pressure on the new leaf spring to get the bolts in?

Any help is appreciated!

Stock or HD leaf springs are $40 each ..... cheap enough ....
Put the cart on jacks in front of the forward leaf spring mount and use a floor jack under one side of the diff. Remove the tire and bottom shock bolt. the rear spring bolt. the U bolts. then the front spring mount. Replace in opposite order ..... Move to the next side... Good idea to get new bushings when you buy the springs

do as scotty says and do one side at a time-don't ask how i know! also get the hd springs. if you carry any load at all (pe0ple or ther things) you WILL bend the stock springs. jim good luck
